On December 9, 2017, Queens of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme kicked the camera of a media photographer during their at The KROQ Almost Christmas concert in Los Angeles. The kick resulted in the camera hitting photographer Chelsea Lauren in the face. She would later receive treatment at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Video of the incident shows it appeared to be a deliberate act. After Chelsea Lauren’s social media posts about the incident went viral, Homme posted an apology video that has since been deleted from instagram. In the apology video Homme says, “I was a d**k, and ai”M truly sorry, and I hope you’re okay.” He also goes on to say “I’m gonna have to figure out some stuff I think… cuz rock n’ roll’s a wonderful thing. It’s supposed to save and help people, not mess them up.”
During the concert performance Homme also cut his own forehead, called the audience “retards”, and cursed about the headlining act Muse by yelling “F*** Muse!”
The Los Angeles show was the last before a six-week break. Their next show is in Victoria, BC on January 22, 2018. it will be interesting to see if media photographers will be there and where they will be allowed to shoot.
